Another Vermilion County resident has died from COVID-19, increasing the local death toll to 103 people.
Vermilion County Health Department Administrator Doug Toole says that the deceased person was a man in his 50’s. He also reported 60 new cases on Monday afternoon, including one person in their 80’s, six grade-school-aged children, two preschoolers and one infant. Vermilion County has now had a total of 8,385 coronavirus cases.
There are currently 13 local residents who are hospitalized with coronavirus complications. 287 cases are active.
The health department will be holding another COVID-19 vaccine clinic on Thursday at the Fischer Theatre in downtown Danville. Danville District 118 schools superintendent Dr. Alicia Geddis says that many district employees will be receiving their second doses this week and next week. Students will be on remote learning on Friday and next Friday as a precautionary measure.
