The Vermilion County Health Department says that 31 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed locally.
Administrator Doug Toole said Friday afternoon that eight local residents are currently hospitalized with the virus, and there are currently 285 active cases.
Overall, Vermilion County has had 8,467 positive cases and 103 total deaths.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reports that 4.5 percent of the county’s residents are considered fully vaccinated and a total of 13,899 doses have been administered. Illinois will soon be receiving shipments of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine, which has recently been approved by the Food and Drug Administration.
Overall, 814,000 Illinois residents have been completely vaccinated, while 2.7 million doses have been administered. 6.4 percent of the state’s population has been vaccinated.
The rolling positivity rates locally continue to decline, with Region 6 being at 2.6 percent and Vermilion County at 3.6 percent positivity.
