Vermilion County Health Department Administrator Douglas Toole is hopeful that adding two new COVID-19 vaccination sites will speed the process along. Beginning Monday, March 15, 2021, vaccinations will be available at the Bremer Conference Center at Danville Area Community College, and a new drive-through clinic at the Vermilion Regional Airport. But first, you must qualify and register at the Vermilion County Health Department’s website at www.vchd.org.
Toole notes people who are scheduled to receive COVID-19 vaccinations at the Fischer Theatre will still receive them there. But he says the DACC and airport sites will beef-up options for getting vaccinated….
“We’re looking at expanding the number of clinics we can offer and some of the locations of it,” he says. “The Fischer has been an amazing facility for us. It comes with its own built-in volunteers. It’s been a very popular clinic. We’re just changing a bit and we’re going to be offering some three days a week at the Bremer Center at DACC, and then for three days a week a drive-in clinic at the airport.”
Toole praised all of the health care professionals and volunteers who have joined forces to make the clinics possible.
Patients will need to wear a face covering, practice social distancing and plan at least 15 minutes for observation after getting vaccinated. The 15-minute observation period applies for both inside and drive-up clinics.
