The Vermilion County Health Department is reporting that 40 more county residents have tested positive for COVID-19.
Administrator Doug Toole says that the cases include four people in their 70’s, six people in their 60’s, two preschoolers, two toddlers and one infant.
Currently, there are 233 active coronavirus cases in Vermilion County, and seven county residents are hospitalized with the virus. Overall, there have been 8,573 total cases since the pandemic began, and 118 residents have died.
The Illinois Department of Public Health says that Vermilion County has a rolling positivity rate of 2.4 percent. Region 6, which includes Champaign-Urbana and Danville, has a 2.1 percent positivity rate, and the state’s average rate is in the middle at 2.3 percent.
On the vaccine side, 6,680 county residents are considered fully vaccinated, and a total of 18,253 doses have been administered.
