Danville’s Grants and Planning Division is accepting applications for rent and mortgage assistance, including for those who might have received assistance previously.
Anyone who has fallen behind on their rental or mortgage payments due to job losses caused by COVID-19 can contact the city at 217-431-2321. Eligible residents must show proof of a loss in income due to COVID-19, have a low to moderate household income and must not be residing in HUD-assisted living.
The program is done on a first-come, first-serve basis. Payments will be made directly to landlords in order to make sure the money is spent properly.
Other grants are available from the Small Business Administration to help with operating expenses and salaries. Businesses can be eligible for up to $2,000 as a sole proprietor or $10,000 if they have less than 50 employees.
