After announcing several more COVID-19 vaccination clinic dates earlier this week, the Vermilion County Health Department is scaling back on some of those plans for now due to a shortage in the number of vaccine doses it is receiving.
Health Department Administrator Doug Toole says that upcoming clinics at the Vermilion Regional Airport and the Bremer Theater at Danville Area Community College will still be held, although a smaller number of people will receive vaccines during those clinics.
Toole says that 600 people will be vaccinated today at the Fischer Theatre, and a mobile vaccination team will be traveling to larger employers in the area to vaccinate workers. A total of 650 people will be vaccinated indoors at DACC on Monday and Wednesday of next week, followed by 825 at the airport during the following three days.
The department is keeping enough vaccine doses on hand for those who are scheduled to receive theirs on March 18th at the Fischer.
On a related note, Carle is now scheduling vaccination appointments for anyone 65 and older at the former Hallmark store inside Village Mall. Residents can schedule their appointments by visiting MyCarle.org or by calling 217-902-6100. They can also sign up for text and email remainders when new appointment slots become available.
