Three more COVID-19 deaths have been reported locally.
Vermilion County Health Department Administrator Doug Toole also says that 114 new cases have been added over the past few days, increasing the county’s total to 8,687 positive cases. A total of 121 people have died locally of the virus.
Toole says that starting today, the health department will be offering vaccine clinics six days a week for the next few weeks. He notes that staff members are working overtime to do so, and are being aided by community partners and members of the Illinois National Guard.
Adults who work in Vermilion County are being urged to take advantage of the temporary increase in vaccine resources. Registration for upcoming clinics can be done on the health department’s website or by calling 217-431-2662, extension 263 or 264. Clinics are being done on a drive-through basis at the Vermilion Regional Airport and indoors at the Bremer Theater at Danville Area Community College.
Currently, there are six county residents who are hospitalized with COVID-19, and there are 279 active cases locally.
The Illinois Department of Public Health says that 8,110 county residents are fully vaccinated, or about 10 and a half percent of the population. There have been more than 21,000 vaccine doses administered to patients so far in Vermilion County.
