17 more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Vermilion County.
Vermilion County Health Department Administrator Doug Toole says that the new cases include two people in their 80’s, two people in their 60’s, one grade-school-aged child and one preschooler.
Seven local residents are currently hospitalized with COVID and there are 273 active cases in the county. There have been a total of 8,704 cases in the past year and 121 county residents have died from the virus.
Toole says that the first day of vaccination clinics at the Bremer Theater on the Danville Area Community College was a success. Other people received their vaccines at local manufacturers. A total of 400 people were vaccinated on Monday.
Local vaccine clinics will continue today with another indoor clinic at DACC. Thursday’s scheduled drive-through clinic at the Vermilion Regional Airport has been canceled due to potential severe weather. Adults can register for clinics by using the health department’s website or by calling 217-431-2662, extension 263 or 264.
The Illinois Department of Public Health says that a total of 21,725 doses have been administered in Vermilion County, and the total number that is fully vaccinated is 8,168.
