A new alderman has joined the Danville city council.
Local attorney Eve Ludwig was sworn in last night to represent Ward 5 on the council. She replaces Tom Stone, who died unexpectedly a month ago.
Mayor Rickey Williams Jr. says that several people had suggested that Stone’s wife, Mary Lou, fill his seat on the council, as she often attended city council meets with him when they were still being held in-person. Williams says, however, that Mary Lou Stone declined to be appointed to the council because she is not ready to take on any public service yet.
Ludwig grew up in Danville and has practiced law locally for a number of years. She is also active in community groups, including the Danville Library Foundation board in the past and currently involved with Schlarman Academy.
