The local Stock and Field stores will be staying open under new management.
R.P. Lumber Company announced Friday that it has acquired the 25-store chain that formerly operated under the Big R name. The company will be retaining the Stock and Field moniker.
Two of the company’s stores are in Vermilion County—with one location on North Vermilion Street in Danville and the other on Georgetown Road in Tilton. The company also operates stores in Crawfordsville, Gibson City and Watseka, and has several locations in northern Indiana.
Stock and Field filed for bankruptcy protection in January, and it announced that all of its stores would be closing at that time. Liquidation sales had been underway at the stores since that time.
R.P. Lumber also operates a store in Westville.
