A grant secured with the help of a county business is going to help keep Westville Police safe. The Village of Westville has been awarded $4-thousand dollars through Hanson Material Service Corporation of Fairmount to purchase bullet-proof vests. The money is from the Lehigh Hanson Cares Grant Program.
”The officers put it on the line everyday to protect our citizens and our community,” said Westville Mayor Mike Weese. ”This is truly a great thing for our officers,” added Weese.
Police Sergeant Justin Varvel wrote the grant request and says now the funds have been secured the new vests have already been ordered. Varvel is on the left in the photo. Kelly O’Brien, area manager for Hanson Material Corporation, presented the check to Mayor Weese and Police Chairman Don Hall. Police Chief David Booe is holding the check.
