If you were wanting to receive a COVID-19 vaccine at a local clinic this week, you will have to wait until sometime next week.
Vermilion County Health Department Administrator Doug Toole said Thursday that the outdoor drive-through clinics at the Vermilion Regional Airport are completely full for the rest of the week. Vaccines will be administered today, tomorrow and Saturday at the airport.
Toole does say that the health department could have some pop-up clinics available in the next few days. Current vaccination sites include the airport and Danville Area Community College. The Fischer Theatre is still being used for second doses, but the last scheduled clinic will be held there on April 8th.
More than 300 people received a vaccine on Wednesday at DACC, and 190 people were vaccinated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Westville.
Almost 9,000 county residents are considered fully vaccinated, according to data from the Illinois Department of Public Health. Vermilion County is in the middle of counties in the state in terms of vaccinations.
Walk-in vaccine appointments are still available through Carle at the Village Mall this week.
