A two-block section of Hazel Street in Danville will be closed to traffic on Wednesday for a training exercise being done by the Danville Fire Department.
Fire Lieutenant Chris McMahon says a vacant structure in the 900-block of Hazel Street will be used for training purposes from 6:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Wednesday. There will be multiple fire trucks on-hand for the training exercise. It will include lighting small fires, and the house will be burned down on a fully engulfed scenario at the end.
Hazel Street will be closed between Fairchild Street and Penn Street on Wednesday while training is taking place. Motorists and pedestrians are encouraged to avoid the area. All of the training exercises are weather-permitting.
