The Danville V.A. has expanded the list of people that it is giving the COVID-19 vaccine to.
Melissa Spady, the public affairs officer at the V.A., says that all veterans, including ones who are not enrolled at the facility, are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine through the V.A., along with their spouses and caregivers.
President Joe Biden recently signed the “Save Lives Act” that removes some of the legal limits on medical care that the Veterans Administration facilities can deliver. Spady says that the expanded eligibility will be dependent on the vaccine supply, and the local V.A. will continue to be prioritizing veterans who are enrolled with the center.
Registration can be accomplished by visiting the V.A.’s website. For those that do not have a computer, you can call 217-554-4444. The public is being asked to only visit the Danville V.A. campus if they have an appointment in order to maintain continued health and safety during the pandemic.
