After almost two months of holding coronavirus vaccine clinics inside the historic Fischer Theatre in downtown Danville, the Vermilion County Health Department is heading elsewhere for the rest of the local clinics.
Administrator Doug Toole says that 333 people received a second-dose Moderna vaccine on Thursday at the Fischer and at Watchfire Signs. The first clinic that was held there was on February 11th, and weekly vaccines have continued on Thursdays since that time.
Anyone who hasn’t yet received their COVID-19 vaccine can do so next week. The health department is administering first-dose vaccines on April 15, 16 and 22 at the Vermilion Regional Airport and April 12 and 14 at the Bremer Theater at Danville Area Community College. The public can register on the health department’s website.
12,705 residents of Vermilion County are considered fully vaccinated, or about 16 percent of the population. About 7,500 of those are older residents of the county.
Five new cases were reported Thursday, including one person in their 70’s and one teenager. Four residents are currently hospitalized and 246 cases are active.
