The organization Keep Vermilion County Beautiful is asking volunteers to help it pick up trash along East Main Street on Saturday morning in preparation for this year’s NJCAA Division II Men’s National Basketball Tournament.
Volunteers are asked to be in the front parking lot at Danville Area Community College at 9 a.m. this Saturday for check-in and instructions. Trash bags, safety vests and a limited number of pickers will be provided.
The event, which is held annually, is part of the “Great American Cleanup” program in cities throughout the country. The NJCAA Tournament is returning to DACC this year after being canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Several safety measures are being imposed, and fan capacity is being limited to about 200 people at each game.
