Officials have located the body of a Danville man whose boat was found capsized in the Wabash River on Friday afternoon.
The Vermillion County (Ind.) Sheriff’s Department says 64-year-old Terry Evans was found dead in the river by conservation officers around 10 a.m. on Sunday. An autopsy will be performed to determine his exact cause of death.

The search was continuing late Saturday afternoon (April 17, 2021) for a Danville man whose boat was found capsized in the Wabash River Friday afternoon. Vermillion County Indiana Sheriff’s Police say they received a report shortly after 2:30 Friday afternoon from Duke Energy personnel saying they had found the overturned boat floating down the river. It was located behind Duke Energy, southeast of Cayuga.
A 64-year-old Danville (Illinois) man who is believed to have been in the boat is missing. Emergency personnel were continuing their efforts both in the water and along the river Saturday trying to locate him. Vermillion County Sheriff’s Police said the man’s family had been notified, but his name was being withheld.
In addition to the Vermillion County Sheriff’s Department, others who have been assisting at the scene include Indiana Conservation Officers, Cayuga Town Marshal’s Office, and Cayuga Fire and Rescue. Clinton City Water Rescue and Illiana EMS have also been on the scene.
