Local officials are set to speak to state legislators during an official meeting Tuesday night about the spike in natural gas and electricity bills back in February.
State Representative Mike Marron, along with Westville Mayor Mike Weese and a local constituent, will be sharing information about how the increase in the bills for that month has affected the village.
Members of the Westville village board rejected a resolution two weeks ago that would have allowed up to $850,000 in bonds to repay the more than $1 million that it owes to a natural gas provider. Officials said that the bills spiked as a result of the energy crisis in Texas during the winter storm two months ago. The village is still trying to determine its next course of action.
The house’s Energy and Environment Committee will be meeting at 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
