The race for the Ward 7 seat on the Danville City Council will be the subject of a discovery recount on Wednesday morning.
Kaylan Huber, an attorney with the Davis and Delanois law firm who lost the April 6th race by one vote to appointed alderman Darren York, filed for the recount last week.
Danville’s Board of Election Commissioners will be meeting at 10 a.m. on Wednesday to recount the results in the city’s 17th precinct, which consists of the Denvale, Denvale West and Rue Bienville subdivisions along Old Ottawa Road. If there is any change in the results, then Huber could seek a court order to recount the entire ward.
York, who is a senior rehabilitation counselor with the Illinois Department of Human Services, was declared the winner of the race by a margin of 281 votes to Huber’s 280 votes. He is set to be seated along with three other returning aldermen and three newcomers on Tuesday, May 4th at City Hall.
