A recent resolution in Effingham County that seeks to limit any opposition to the Second Amendment has garnered praise from Congresswoman Mary Miller.
Miller says that residents need to stand up for their constitutional rights or else they could lose them.
“Our rights and liberties matter,” Miller says. “If we allow Joe Biden and the Democrats to undermine the Second Amendment, we open the door for the radical Left to come after other freedoms such as the right of free assembly and the protections we have against unlawful searches and seizures. If we do not stand up for our Constitutional rights, we will lose them.”
Members of the Effingham County Board passed the Second Amendment Preservation Act two weeks ago. The resolution prohibits anyone from enforcing gun-control measures in the county and also allows the county sheriff’s office to arrest any individual who infringes upon Second Amendment rights. The fine for such an offense would be $500.
The board member who proposed the resolution says he wants to punish federal officials who seek to take away his guns. Others, however, noted that passing it could cost the county money if lawsuits are filed.
