The longest-tenured member of the Danville District 118 school board is now serving as its President.
Board members unanimously chose Dr. Randal Ashton to lead the board. He replaces Bill Dobbles, who had led the board for the previous 12 years. Dobbles is still a school board member.
Ashton previously served as the board President from 2007-2009. He was elected to his fifth term on the board in April.
Shannon Schroeder was selected as the board’s Vice President, with all members but Lon Henderson voting for her appointment to the post.
Ashton, Schroeder, Henderson and Darlene Halloran were each sworn in to another term on the board during Wednesday night’s meeting. It was the first in-person school board meeting since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
