A man who was wanted by police after a string of robberies, including one in Danville, has been captured.
The News-Gazette reports that 54-year-old John Beck was arrested last week in police in Springfield who found him at a local motel room. Police there are holding him on a robbery charge and for possessing a stolen vehicle.
Danville Police responded to the 2700-block of North Vermilion Street around 7:45 p.m. on April 19th. An employee stated that a man had entered the business demanding cash, and threatening to pull out a gun if he did not obtain the money. The worker handed over an undisclosed amount of cash from the register, and the man left on foot.
Beck is also suspected of robbing two banks in Elwood and Odell and a convenience store in Paxton earlier this month.
