A high-speed pursuit that began in Indiana ended with the driver crashing in front of a church on Danville’s east side.
Danville Police Sgt. Jason Jeffries says that officers were chasing a driver Friday afternoon in Indiana. The man drove past the state line traveling at a very high rate of speed and Danville police took over the pursuit.
The driver crashed his black sedan into the steps in front of Christway Church at the intersection of East Main Street and South Buchanan Street. Police took the driver into custody.
Danville firefighters and the Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene. A bomb squad was called in and detonated a black case that was found in the back seat of the car.
