An elderly man from St. Joseph died Thursday afternoon when he pulled out in front of another driver northeast of Urbana.
Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup says that 81-year-old John Reitmeier was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred around 2:15 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Route 45 and the Leverett Road.
State Police say that Reitmeier was heading east and had stopped at the stop sign, when he then pulled out in front of a southbound vehicle driven by a Rantoul man.
The other driver was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
