The National Commander of the American Legion says he is enjoying meeting with Veterans across the country. Bill Oxford of Lenoir, North Carolina addressed some Veterans at American Legion Post 210 in Danville Tuesday. Afterwards, Oxford said he is trying to get more Veterans to join the Legion….
{AUDIO: ”The message that I try to provide to Veterans as they come off active duty – join a Veterans service organization. They’re the people out there that is your voice when we go to Congress. I would endorse, support and invite anybody to become a member of the American Legion – but join a Veterans organization. You help us help you,” said Commander Oxford.}
Oxford also thanked the Sons of the American Legion at Post 210…
{AUDIO: ”The Sons Of The American Legion is just for male descendants of anybody who ever served on active duty – fathers, grandfathers, or that. But the Sons is just a program – a way for male descendants to become part of the comradeship, part of the program – and help us carry the message,” said Oxford. ”We get a tremendous amount of respect and support from the Sons. But it’s just one of those things. We’re welcoming anybody that helps us promote Veteran’s rights and benefits,” said Commander Oxford during an interview with VermilionCountyFirst.com News.}
Oxford has served as National American Legion Commander since being elected in August of 2019. He is traveling to 55 American Legion posts across the nation spreading his message.
