The Danville Public Library is closing at noon today (Tuesday, May 11, 2021), and will not re-open until Thursday. Library Executive Director Jennifer Hess says the closing is because a library staff member has tested positive for COVID-19.
Hess says a cleaning service will disinfect the library. She adds the library will reopen at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday resuming normal business hours.
It had just been announced that the Danville Public Library plans to change its operating hours and other services in response to the Bridge Phase of the Restore Illinois Plan. Once the library reopens on Thursday the plans call for the building to be open Mondays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., and on Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
Library patrons may continue to reserve items for curbside pickup, including craft kits for kids, teens and adults.
For the safety of patrons and staff, some services will remain unavailable. They include study rooms, Teen Zone and MakerSpace, along with children’s and caregivers computers in the Children’s room and seating areas. The library has also suspended the acceptance of donated materials.
Patrons are encouraged to make use of curbside pickup and/or home delivery, as well as other digital offerings on the library’s website at www.danvillepubliclibrary.org.
