Less than two weeks remain before the start of the Danville Dans season, but the team is still in need of 15 families to host the players during two month season.
Jeanie Cooke is the owner of the Dans. She describes some of the perks that come with being a host family.
“You get priority entrance,” she explains. “You don’t pay for any tickets for your family. After the season, there’s a host family night when you can be down on the field with your player and be thanked and acknowledged by the Dans and by the community.”
Cooke explains that a host family might not have much interaction with their player during the season, as the team is practicing and traveling a majority of the time, but they do need to provide food, shelter and laundry for the players throughout the week. Many host families have built lasting friendships with former players.
Anyone who is interested in becoming a host family can contact Chris Jaruseski at 217-918-0996 or email her at mikeandchrisj@comcast.net.
The Dans begin their season on Thursday, May 27th, with the first home game on Saturday, May 30th.
