Some new facilities that have been under construction at the VA Illiana Health Care Medical Center in Danville are expected to open this summer.
During a Tuesday online town hall meeting, it was announced that July 21st is the target date for opening two new Veterans Village ‘Homes’ on the west side of the VA campus. Each will house 10 Veterans who will be linked to VA services. The homes have been named Independence and Courage and are the latest to be added to the Veterans Village.
And also this summer, a new Mental Health Inpatient Building is expected to open at the VA Illiana Health Care Medical Center in Danville. The state-of-the-art, 22-bed facility is projected to open in late July offering in-patient mental health counseling. The new mental health building has more than 16-thousand square feet of space.
[Note: The photo is of ‘Freedom House’ — one of the ‘green’ houses that was opened in 2015 on the west side of the VA Illiana Health Care System campus in Danville. It was one of the first to be built in an area where the VA golf course was previously located. ‘Independence’ and ‘Courage’ – the two new homes opening soon in that area — are similar to Freedom House.]
