Both Danville and Vermilion County are doing quite well compared to one year ago. In April 2020, Danville was looking at a 19 percent unemployment rate, and 17 percent of county residents were out of a job.
Around the area, Champaign’s unemployment rate actually rose two-tenths of a percent to 5.1 percent. Urbana’s was up three-tenths of a percent, to 4.7 percent. Those rates are still much lower than Vermilion County.
