The much-awaited reopening of Seminary Street through the railroad overpass east of Carver Park occurred on Thursday.
Employees with the City of Danville reopened the roadway at Noon on Thursday. The north sidewalk parallel to the street is still closed, but the south sidewalk is now open.
City officials closed the street underneath the viaduct on April 12th due to falling rock and concrete from the structure. Since then, drivers have had one less connection between the east and west sides of Danville.
In addition, the Illinois Department of Transportation will be activating the traffic signals at Gilbert and Madison streets starting next Wednesday. The lights will replace the current ones at Gilbert and Seminary streets. The change is part of the Carle at the Riverfront project.
