Visitors to this year’s Balloons Over Vermilion will notice a new name and interior at the Vermilion Regional Airport’s former terminal.
Airport Manager Alex Gale tells VermilionCountyFirst.com that the building has undergone renovations over the past few months. The former Cloud 9 Banquet Hall has also been rebranded as the Flight Line Event Center as part of the process.
The new interior design includes features from parts of the airport’s history, including Britt Airways, which operated the last passenger airline service into Danville, through 1986. There are also features on former airport employees such as Mike Vadeboncoeur and Midwest Aero.
Airport officials are hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony for the revamped event center on Saturday, June 26 at 11 a.m. There will be a dedication to the Britt family, and the public can tour the facility.
The event center can seat up to 100 people and offers views of the runways. It can be rented by calling 217-442-4624.
