A hybrid conference titled Rising Tide that will focus on trauma and mental health is coming to Danville on Thursday and Friday of next week.
Michael Remole of Gateway Family Services and Hooves of Hope is heading up the event. He has attended similar conferences in the past, but he wants to bring it to Danville so that the public can understand what trauma survivors are going through, which he believes can make a difference.
“I feel like we’re going to see greater success, not just with out clients but in our community, addressing violence, addressing the depression and suicide rates,” he explains. “All of those things are going to be improving, as we address mental health and the generational cycles of trauma that we’ve experienced.”
The bulk of the conference will be held over the final two days and will feature main speakers, including some of the leading trauma experts in the country, at the Fischer Theatre and also breakout sessions at the David S. Palmer Arena. Gateway Family Services is one of 12 different organizations worldwide that are serving as host sites. Professionals who attend the event will be able to earn up to 29.5 continuing education credits. Before the conference begins, a community kickoff event will be held at the theatre on Wednesday night beginning at 5:00.
Tickets to the conference are still available, and cost $169 for a virtual session or $199 for an in-person experience. Virtual recordings will be available through August 1. You can purchase tickets and learn more about the conference by visiting RisingTideConference.com.
