Senator Scott Bennett has announced $1.7 million dollars in state funding will be used to improve some bike paths and walking trails in Champaign County.
The money will go toward improvements to the Maplewood multi-use path in Rantoul, the First Street shared-use path in Savoy, and an extension of the Champaign Park District’s North Champaign Trail.
‘’Investing in our infrastructure is the best way to ensure we are ready for the future,’’ said Senator Bennett. ‘’By making our bike infrastructure safer and more connected, it gives residents and visitors another mode of transportation and encourages people to incorporate physical activity in their daily lives.’’
