The United States Geological Survey says an earthquake that shook parts of west-central Indiana and east-central Illinois this afternoon (June 17, 2021) was confirmed at 3.8 on the Richter scale. It was centered 3 miles west of Bloomingdale, Indiana in Parke County.
The USGS says it struck at 2:18 p.m. and was at a depth of 7.7 kilometers.
Parke County Indiana Sheriff’s Police say they received no immediate reports of any damage.
Although the earthquake’s epicenter was near Bloomingdale Indiana, 9-1-1 call centers across the region received numerous reports about it. Again, there were no reports of damage or injuries. Numerous people reported they felt or heard the affects from it.
