A preliminary investigation report by the Illinois State Police District 10 indicates Diana Drake, 48-year-old female from Westville was traveling north on Georgetown Road near Lete Lane in Vermilion County on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at approximately 7:04pm. Drake’s vehicle left the road to the right and struck a tree. She was transported by ambulance to a regional hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A 39-year-old-male passenger in Drake’s vehicle succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene. The Vermilion County Coroner will release the name of the deceased once next of kin notifications are made. This crash is still under investigation and no further information is available at this time. The driver of the vehicle, Diana Drake, was cited for Improper Lane Usage.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
