The clean-up continues from some severe thunderstorms which blew through the area over the weekend. Chrisman – in northern Edgar County – was hammered by strong winds which uprooted a few trees, and downed limbs and power lines.
Paul Hoult, custodian at the Chrisman Grade School, was being assisted by some community volunteers as they worked Monday to remove a tree that was uprooted in front of the high school….
{‘’We’ve got quite a mess. It’s interrupting our summer clean-up, but we’re tackling it together and we’re getting it knocked out.’’}

(Chrisman Unit 2 employees and volunteers continued work on this tree at Chrisman High School Monday.)
Hoult says Chrisman’s schools were lucky….
{‘’Nobody’s hurt. There’s no structural damage that we know of. Everything looks good. So, thankfully, everyone’s okay.’’}

(This house took a direct hit from the storm that hit Chrisman over the weekend.)
The strong winds blew over some young corn plants, but by Monday many of those crops had recovered. Farmers were busy assessing their fields after the storm hit.
