The Vermilion County Health Department is making plans to have fewer reports for the public as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to wind down. County Health Administrator Douglas Toole says the frequency of local updates may mirror the Illinois Department of Public Health Department’s decision to have routine COVID updates on Fridays.
The County Health Department reported 8 new COVID-19 cases late Friday. One is a resident in their 70s, one in their 60s, two in their 50s, one in their 40s, two in their 20s, and one pre-school age child. Vermilion County has had a total of 10,079 positive cases since the pandemic began, and the county has lost 147 residents to COVID-related illnesses since the pandemic began.
Of the 8 new cases, Toole says none of them reported they had been fully vaccinated.
The Vermilion County Health Department is holding one COVID-19 vaccination per month at its office. Visit the Health Department’s website at www.vchd.org for registration information. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins will be allowed up to 30 minutes before the end of clinic times.
Upcoming clinics at the Health Department will be:
- July 14th (Johnson & Johnson vaccinations will be given from 10 until 11 a.m., and the Moderna vaccine will be given from 11 a.m. until noon.)
- August 11, 2021 (Moderna vaccinations from 10 am until noon.
- September 8, 2021 (Moderna vaccinations from 10 am until noon.
Toole is urging county residents to continue to be vigilant. Make smart choices and be safe.
