The Illinois Department of Transportation says lanes which have been closed due to construction will be open – where possible – for holiday travelers. The action is being taken to minimize travel disruption, but drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones. You should also obey the posted work zone speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices, and stay alert for workers and equipment.
In Vermilion County, lane reductions will continue along Interstate 74 over the Salt Fork River west of Danville. And Tilton Road in the area over Interstate 74 remains closed.
In Champaign County, I-74 over the CN Railroad between the Lincoln Avenue and Neil Street interchanges will continue to have lane reductions this extended holiday weekend. The St. Joseph Sidney slab over the Salt Fork River north of Sidney will also remain closed. And Illinois 10 over Copper Slough in Champaign remains closed.
The Illinois Department of Transportation and Illinois State Police are reminding motorists to buckle up, put your phone down and drive sober.
