Two people remained hospitalized in serious condition Sunday (July 4, 2021) after being shot following a rap concert in Danville. Police Commander Josh Webb says two other people also suffered gunshot wounds.
Webb says Danville Police responded to the area of the Shovel Head Saloon at 12 South College Street on a report of shots fired in the area around 2:00 a.m. When police arrived they found a large crowd of people in the street and a nearby parking lot. Commander Webb adds officers found 3 victims with gunshot wounds in the parking lot. And while still on the scene, police learned a fourth gunshot victim had arrived at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center’s Emergency Department seeking treatment.
The victims are:

- A 27-year-old Danville man who police said suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to both legs;
- A 28-year-old Danville man who suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to a leg.
The names of the people shot have not been released.
Police say their initial investigation found there had been a rap concert at the Shovel Head Saloon. As people were leaving the event, Commander Webb says a large crowd formed in the street, and that is when someone started shooting. Webb adds Danville Police are still trying to identify and locate any potential witnesses to this incident. No suspect description was immediately available.
