Danville Police are still seeking help from the public as they probe a weekend incident in which four people were shot. The shootings occurred around 2:00 a.m. Sunday (July 4, 2021) as people were leaving a bar in the unit block of South College Street.
Danville Police Commander Joshua Webb says a large crowd had gathered outside the bar and on a parking lot when shots rang out. Police located three people with gunshot wounds in the parking lot, and a fourth arrived a short while later at the OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center for treatment.
Commander Webb says a 27-year-old Danville man and a 35-year-old Chicago man were both listed in serious condition after suffering multiple gunshot wounds. A 27-year-old Danville man suffered multiple gunshot wounds to both legs. And a 28-year-old Danville man was also shot in the leg. Police said their injuries were not life-threatening.
Police learned there had been a rap concert at the Shovel Head Saloon at 12 S. College Street. The shootings occurred outside after the concert.
