Illinois State Police are still seeking help from the public as they try to find the person responsible for a shooting Tuesday afternoon along Interstate 74. A 22-year-old Rantoul man sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound as he was driving along the interstate near Lincoln Avenue in Champaign County.
Troopers were notified about the incident when the man showed up at a hospital seeking treatment. The shooting occurred as the man was driving eastbound along Interstate 74 at about 3:45 p.m. Tuesday (July 6, 2021).
Preliminary reports indicate shots were fired from an unknown vehicle traveling eastbound on the interstate near Lincoln Avenue.
