A former Georgetown man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for his conviction on Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child charges. Vermilion County Circuit Judge Mark Goodwin sentenced 61-year-old Jack A. Daniels. Daniels will be required to serve a minimum of 85-percent of the sentence, and therefore will be over 80 years of age when the sentence is complete.
Georgetown Police investigated the case and obtained a confession from Daniels regarding the charge on which he pleaded guilty. At the sentencing hearing Judge Goodwin heard evidence that during the summer of 2019, Daniels placed his mouth on the sex organ of an 11-year-old juvenile. Daniels also abused other children, according to Vermilion County State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy. She said the crimes against those victims were considered in the agreed to disposition of the matter.
Lacy vowed that she and her office will continue to vigorously prosecute child sex offenders, and she thanked Georgetown Police for obtaining the necessary evidence to secure a conviction.
