A Danville City Council committee is recommending approval of funding to help with improvements for a segment of Logan Avenue south of Madison Street. The work is in connection with the Carle at the Riverfront project.
A resolution approved by the Public Works Committee of the City Council Tuesday evening says Carle Foundation Hospital has completed design of improvements to the intersection of Madison, Logan and Chandler. The City desires to complete adjacent improvements to Logan Avenue and Madison Street, which includes pavement, drainage, sidewalks and other public improvements.
Carle has sought and received bids for improvements for both the City and Carle portion of the project. So under terms of the resolution the City would reimburse Carle Foundation up to $260-thousand dollars. The full city council must still approve the agreement.
The City Council’s Public Works Committee is also recommending approval of an Inter-Governmental Grant Agreement for improvements and the realignment of the Jackson and Voorhees Street intersection. City Engineer Sam Cole explains…
The Intergovernmental Grant Agreement is with the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.
Committee members also agreed to appropriate Motor Fuel Tax Funds for improvements to Section Street. And the Committee is recommending approval of a roadway agreement with Thyssenkrupp Crankshaft Company, LLC and Ameren Illinois. It would allow Thyssenkrupp to install fencing and gates within the public right-of-way to restrict public access to International Drive. It would be for the purpose of enhancing security on and around Thyssenkrupp’s property. The company would provide the City of Danville an approved traffic analysis showing there would be no impact to the public’s access point to International Drive at Lynch Road. It was approved unanimously by the Public Works Committee Tuesday evening and forwarded to the full Danville City Council for consideration.
