A Vermilion County Child Advocacy Center is now operating in the same building where the Vermilion County Health Department is located. And State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy says it is working well…
On WDAN Radio’s Newsmakers program, Lacy explained the focus of the new center…
The first interview was conducted in the CAC (Child Advocacy Center) just over a week ago. Lacy says it provides a comforting, kid-friendly environment even though those involved are dealing with an adult situation,

And State’s Attorney Lacy notes that even if her office decides there is insufficient evidence to prosecute a case, the Child Advocacy Center can still get some help for the child. And she expects to be hearing about more cases of sexual abuse of children….
State Senator Scott Bennett worked with some state agencies and local leaders to help get the Child Advocacy Center. Earlier Vermilion County had been one of only four counties in the state that did not have one.
