Illinois State Police have announced the results of Occupant Restraint Enforcement Patrols (OREP) conducted this month in Vermilion County. District 10 State Police Commander Captain Louis Kink says there were 18 safety belt citations and 21 citations overall. Troopers issued 22 written warnings, but there were no child restraint citations.
Captain Kink says the Occupant Restraint Enforcement Patrols provided extra patrols so officers could focus on saving lives by making sure all vehicle occupants were buckled up. State Police say most motorists know safety belts save lives, but some ignore their safety and that of their families by neglecting to use safety belts and child restraint devices.
