Elvis Costello & The Imposters have just announced a 20-date North American trek, dubbed the "Hello Again" tour. The shows start off on October 13th in Memphis with a show at The Soundstage at Graceland, hitting JazzFest in New Orleans on October 16th before wrapping — as of now — on November 14th in Oakland, California.
According to the official announcement, "Costello & The Imposters will perform songs from the pages of his formidable songbook. 'Hello Again' will also see the first stage performances of songs from the future, as the band time-travel in all directions. The Imposters are: Steve Nieve — piano and organ, drummer Pete Thomas and bassist and vocalist Davey Faragher.
Elvis Costello told us that over the decades some of his classic tunes have become vastly improved in their live configurations: ["You find the essential core instruments that make the performance work in concert. This I discovered early on. The first five records that I recorded — five or six really — could all be performed and it would sound very close to the recording because that's who was playing on the record. The overdubs were minimal. The only missing aspect on the early Attractions records were the vocal harmonies that I did. Now with the Imposters, even just adding one voice singing the harmonic interval in the songs that were recorded originally by the Attractions makes them much brighter.
