Jurors in a Danville murder trial heard Wednesday from an Illinois State Police Investigator. The testimony of Investigator Erin Bowers came during the trial of Ocheil Keys. He is on trial on murder and concealing a homicidal death charges in connection with the death of 50-year-old Barbara Rose of Danville in October of 2017.
Investigator Bowers told how she used a spray substance to check stains found on some carpeting and a bed in Rose’s Cleveland Street home. Bowers testified that although the ‘Blood Hound’ spray reacted positively it merely meant it needed to be checked further.
Also Wednesday jurors were shown a series of photographs taken at Rose’s home by Investigator Bowers after Rose was reported missing. They also heard from retired Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department Correctional Officer Joseph Berenz as he explained how offenders are checked-in and fingerprinted at the jail.
Rose’s burned and dismembered body was found after she disappeared. Witnesses have said that she and Keys were boyfriend and girlfriend at the time.
The trial continues today (Thursday, July 22, 2021).
