The stadium is celebrating its 75th birthday with some special activities. Jeanie Cooke is a managing partner in the group that has a lease agreement for the stadium with the City of Danville. She says Saturday’s fun begins with the first pitch….
Cooke notes there have been a number of professional baseball teams affiliated with the play in Danville since the stadium was built in 1946….
Cooke is optimistic about the future of Danville Stadium primarily because of some improvements that have been made there….
The stadium is currently the home field of the Danville Dans in the Prospect League.
Danville Stadium has seen numerous players advance to play in the Major Leagues over the years. And it was also the site where part of the movie – ‘The Babe’ – was filmed in 1991.
Saturday’s game begins at 6:30 p.m.
