The man who is becoming the new General Manager for three Neuhoff radio stations in Danville was introduced to the public Tuesday on WDAN’s Newsmakers program. He is Mike Shamus who will take the helm of radio stations WDAN, WDNL, and WRHK effective August 1, 2021.
Shamus is replacing Michelle Campbell who has accepted a Development Specialist position at Crosspoint Human Services. Campbell has been with WDAN, WDNL, and WRHK Radio for nearly 20 years.
Shamus grew-up in Montana, and later worked in radio in Colorado and Utah before taking a job with Neuhoff in Lafayette, Indiana. In his new role he will serve as General Manager for the Neuhoff stations in both Lafayette and Danville.
Shamus says he feels good about the future of local radio…
{AUDIO: ‘’Local radio will always have a place in people’s consumption. Cookie-cutter radio will not. You have to be local. You have to be part of your community, and that’s why we all do this. And so I think local radio will always have a place, and shows like this – and all the great things that Danville does, and all the great things Lafayette does on a local level – those things resonate very high.’’
Shamus is also excited about the online role the radio stations play….
{Audio: ‘’A lot of what we’re doing with the online advertising – that is really starting to take-off for our advertisers. You know we have a lot more options for them aside from just local radio commercials. We’re having a lot of success using what we call Targeted Display and Geo-Fencing, and all these different products. And we’re able to let our advertisers expand their marketing in Danville and outside of Danville. And the same thing is happening in Lafayette, so that gets me very excited for the future.’’]
The online site for the Neuhoff stations in Danville is VermilionCountyFirst.com.
Although Shamus will serve as General Manager for the stations in both Danville and Lafayette, Vice-President/COO Mike Hulvey says Neuhoff’s Corporate Office will continue to be based in Danville.
