Vermilion County continues in the ‘High’ category for cases of COVID-19. And on Monday, the Vermilion County Health Department reported 75 new cases in the county. They include 19 young people ranging from infants to teenagers. There have now been 10,325 positive cases diagnosed in Vermilion County since the pandemic began early last year.
Vermilion County Health Department Administrator Douglas Toole says there are currently 11 county residents who are hospitalized with COVID. And the county currently has 126 active cases which have been diagnosed.
A total of 154 COVID-related deaths have occurred in Vermilion County during the pandemic.
Of the 75 new cases reported Monday, six of them said they have been fully vaccinated for COVID.
Three infants are among the 75 new cases. The others include one toddler, one preschool-aged child, seven grade-school-aged children, and seven teenagers. The others include three residents in their eighties, four in their seventies, nine in their sixties, four in their fifties, fourteen in their forties, seven in their thirties, and fifteen in their twenties.
Due to Vermilion County’s HIGH transmission status, Toole says it is recommended that everyone wear a mask when indoors, regardless of your vaccination status.
‘’We are encouraging our community to get vaccinated, to get tested, and to stay home when they are sick, and to wear face masks,’’ said Toole.
